Digitale Speicher-, Produktions-, Informations- und Kommunikationsmedien haben sich in historisch kurzer Zeit bereits tief in Alltagspraktiken eingeschrieben: als Endgeräte vielfältigster Form in die materielle Kultur, als Symbole und Signen in Deutungssysteme, als Interfaces und Netzwerke in Sozialität, und als in ihren Zukunftsaussichten offene Entwicklungen in unsere Imaginationen. Die Kommission versteht sich als ein Ort der Vernetzung von kulturwissenschaftlich-kritischer Forschung und Lehre, die sich diesen Themen in methodischer Vielfalt und Flexibilität annimmt und damit verbindende Brücken baut.

Within a historically short time digital storage, production, information and communication media have inscribed themselves profoundly into everyday lives: as end devices in a variety of formats into material culture, as symbols and signs into interpretation systems, as interfaces and networks into sociality, and as developments open to future prospects into collective imagination. The commission offers a network and platform of exchange for critical research and teaching which addresses these topics in methodologically divers and flexible ways, building connecting bridges.
